"You whine and whine that you can’t get up on time.
But at one in the morning you’re still online.
You started to bed at ten, but heard an email come in
You said, “It’ll only take a minute,
and I can’t sleep anyway till I see what’s in it.”
You know it’s getting late, but you still take the bait
It’s a clickable fishhook that pulls you into Facebook.
Now you’re hook, line and sinker in a digital clinker.
You can’t escape the wreckage, because you already started to message.
Next thing you know it’s after midnight, so you finally text good night.
But when the sun comes up, you can’t wake up, get up, or stay up, so you give up and say,
“No time for devotions. I got to get in motion! God will have to wait. I got to get to work by eight!”
Here’s an insight. Use some foresight. Starting tonight,
Think ahead and get to bed.
Get offline before nine and you’ll redeem the time.

"Leonard Ravenhill was one of the 20th century’s greatest prophetic voices. The focus of his ministry was calling the church of his day to revival. He often examined the reasons why revival is so uncommon in the modern church world.
He said, “Revival tarries because Christians are not eternity conscious. If we as Christians would live every moment under the eye of God, if we conducted our family life, worked at our trade, bought or sold our goods, prayed our prayers and gave our means in light of eternity we would have revival in our day. If preachers would preach every sermon with one eye on damned humanity and the other on the judgment seat—then we would have a holy ghost revival that would shake this earth and bring millions of eternity-bound souls to Jesus.”
I believe his comments were right on target. Most Christians will say they want revival, but very few of us will actually change our schedules enough to make it happen. Real revival requires we redeem the time.

"One of my little ones was tattling on her sibling the other day by informing us that her little sister had eaten a Brussel sprout without asking. My wife, thinking that was strange, investigated and discovered she had meant to say the sibling had taken a “Russel Stover” without asking.
Russel Stover chocolates and Brussel sprouts are both classified as foods, but that is where the similarity ends. In a similar way, there are many kinds of “spiritual foods” we can choose to spend our time consuming.
Some foods are outright poison and should be avoided at all cost. Books that teach heresy or false doctrine can do great damage to our souls. Others are light reading. Like chocolate candy they have their place in moderation, but they can’t be the staples of our diet.
Then there are the Brussel sprouts. Spiritual babies probably won’t have developed a taste for them. But reading deeper books which emphasize sacrificial living and total devotion to God, will best redeem the time.
