"John D. Rockefeller began his first company with $1,000 of savings and $1,000 loan from his father. In a few years his Standard Oil Company controlled ¾ of the US oil industry and he became one of the wealthiest men in history. Most people would agree that Mr. Rockefeller was a man who made good investments and saw great returns. Time is given to you by God for an investment. He has great plans to reward your investments. He wants to make you a spiritual billionaire in Heaven by lavishing you with great returns on the time you give Him. The more you follow His directions for investing time, the greater the eternal returns will be. You would be a foolish person to neglect the many opportunities God provides to gain spiritual wealth each day. So seize every precious opportunity today to show God’s love and to tell someone of the Savior. You cannot afford to neglect opportunities for spiritual investment of your time. Rather, seek out those investment opportunities and redeem the time. "
"The Bible says Jesus Christ will return again. While we may differ as to the particulars of end time events, every true Christian agrees that the Lord will return. The Bible gives many clues or signs as to when Christ will return and what events will take place at the end of the world. Some of the signs are given in symbolic language. But one of them is very clear, literal and measurable. Jesus said the Gospel must first be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations and then would the end come. Today there is hardly a spot on the planet that cannot be reached with Christian radio. The internet has made the Gospel available to Muslim countries where missionaries can’t travel. Over 95% of the world now has a Bible portion in a language they understand. As we see this clear and undeniable sign of the end times coming to pass, we’re reminded time is drawing to a close and we must redeem the time. "
"I once heard a man describe how his wife required regular sessions of “Retail Therapy” to stay healthy. Going shopping can be fun at times, even therapeutic. But at other times it can be hectic. One time when shopping is not fun is when we are in a last minute rush to get a gift for a holiday, birthday or anniversary. What should have been a pleasant trip to find a way to express our love and appreciation for someone special, becomes a frustrating, expensive hassle. But, we can avoid that scenario by doing year round gift shopping. Good time management means not waiting till the last minute to start any “must do” project. Planning ahead allows the giver to be more creative and thoughtful in their giving. It allows you to save money by watching for bargains year round. Taking a little retail therapy, by doing year round gift shopping, can save God’s money and help you redeem the time. "
"Just after communism fell, my wife and I served as missionaries to Czechoslovakia. Lots of things there took some getting used to. One was our communist designed refrigerator. On the inside at the level of the top shelf, a button stuck out that cut the refrigerator off when pushed. The problem was, any time your milk jug happened to touch the side of the refrigerator, it would shut down, spoil your food, and have to be reset. While that reset button was pretty useless, others could be quite helpful. Many times we find ourselves wasting time in a dead end career that doesn’t allow us to accomplish anything for the Kingdom of God and doesn’t provide very well for us either. Yet we stay with that job year after year because we are afraid to push our mental reset button and think in different terms. But your mental reset button might be the one you ought to push if you want to redeem the time. "
