"Someone gleaned the following time management principles from the account of Noah’s ark: 1: Don't miss the boat. God has something He wants you to accomplish. 2: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark. 3: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big. 4: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done. 5: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs. God honors persistence and diligence. 6: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals. God’s way of doing things might not always be man’s way. 7: No matter the storm, when you are doing what God wants, there's always a rainbow waiting so don’t give up, keep these lessons from Noah’s ark in mind and redeem the time. "According to a recent USA Today snapshot, 80% of parents surveyed say their children ask “Are we there yet?” or something similar when taking a road trip. 19% of them ask more than 10 times. Well traveling with children can be a challenge at times. This is one area where I can speak with some authority. Our family, including our 8 children, travels full time doing seminars, so you can imagine this is an issue we’ve faced a time or two. But I can truthfully say that my children never fight or squabble in the van. They never whine for drinks, they never argue over toys or complain about a brother or sister invading their space. In fact they don’t even ask for frequent bathroom stops…as long as they’re all asleep. That’s why night travel can be one of the best time management techniques for families. Travel through the night means less traffic, less stress and more opportunities to talk to the Lord while driving which will redeem the time. "
"Is it possible to redeem the time while you’re sleeping? David thought so. In Psalm 63 he said he would have joy, “When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.” In other words he would think through the night on the things of God and His word. The last thought before you fall asleep at night often sets the tone for how you’ll sleep that evening. If you watch a scary movie just before bedtime, you’ll have nightmares. But if you fall asleep meditating on God’s word, the cleansing effect of scripture will continue in your mind through the night and will often be your first thought in the morning. There is very real mental and spiritual activity going on in those night watches. By meditating on God’s word while we fall asleep we can make sure that activity is what God wants. And even while sleeping we can be redeeming the time. "
"In 1848 Niagara Falls actually stopped flowing for about 20 hours because of ice that was blocking the Niagara River. If you’ve ever witnessed the mighty Niagara Falls you can imagine what it would take to stop the flow of that river. But there is something else that flows even more forcefully. And that is time. No one can stop the flow of time. There is absolutely nothing we can do to speed it up or to slow it down. Time moves at the same pace for rich and poor, young and old, saved and lost. The flow of time has been the most constant force in the universe since God created time in the beginning. It will continue to remain constant until we reach eternity and time shall be no more. There are really only two things we can do with time. We can either waste it or redeem it. When you ponder the unstoppable flow of time you will quickly feel the need to redeem the time. "
